Hobe Sound pickup and replacement carts
Martin County contracts with Waste Management (WM) for curbside garbage, recycling and yard waste in the unincorporated county. Garbage is picked up on two scheduled days each week, recycling on one of those same days, and yard waste every Wednesday. The County’s Collection Schedule Map shows the days for your address.
Every home gets a blue 64-gallon single-stream recycling cart. Set carts out by 6 a.m. on your service day with the handle and wheels facing the house, and leave 3 feet of clearance on all sides. Missed pickups and replacement carts go through WM at (772) 546-7700; the first replacement cart is free.
Need a replacement recycling bin? Martin County lists WM’s office at 7700 SE Bridge Road in Hobe Sound as one of the pickup spots. We plan your clean right after one of your garbage days.
Collection rules change. Check your city or hauler for current days.

What comes out when you open the lid
An Open University study found that bins holding household waste can release bioaerosols (airborne bacteria, fungi and endotoxin) when they’re opened. It tested sealed bins as a worst case and said normal levels shouldn’t be a problem for most healthy adults. Less residue in the cart means less to stir up.
